Boatman’s Cottage is a charming, end-of-terrace, stone-built cottage on the edge of the Skipton Canal, just a short walk from Skipton’s award-winning High Street. This pretty little cottage seamlessly combines original features such as exposed beams in the hallway with modern furnishings providing a first class holiday cottage, ideal for a romantic break in the Yorkshire Dales. This property has been tastefully extended to include a large conservatory to the rear making the kitchen/dining room a large open and airy space, which is great for socialising in. The well-equipped kitchen, with a central island, is well laid out and provides everything you would need to create wonderful meals during your holiday. The cosy front room offers canal views and features a wood burner. Upstairs are two double bedrooms, one of which has great views along Skipton Canal. The enclosed, dog-friendly garden catches the afternoon sun, and the off-street parking for one car is a real bonus in this busy market town.
Boatman’s Cottage provides an excellent base from which to enjoy the many delights this town has to offer. In 2017 it was voted as the happiest place in the UK to live in by the Sunday Times. A short walk from the cottage brings you to the medieval Skipton Castle, which is one of the oldest in the country and definitely worth a visit; the castle guides are very knowledgable. The lively canal basin and daily market are also within a few minutes of the property. The main High Street has a plethora of cafés, shops and restaurants - not to mention some great pubs serving traditional Yorkshire ales and some fabulous Yorkshire food. A few days in this town will certainly make you gain a few pounds!
The Yorskhire Dales are right on the doorstep, and there are hundreds of miles of paths to explore this stunning part of the country. Bolton Abby is also worth a visit, along with the farmers’ market at Grassington and the cheese factory at Settle. For those who enjoy shopping, why not visit the spa town of Harrogate or the picturesque village of Kirby Lonsdale? Both are within easy reach. Whilst visiting Harrogate, a visit to Betty’s, the famous Yorkshire tea room, has got to be on your itinerary. Visitors travel from around the world to sample their afternoon cakes and patisserie! This little cottage offers country living at its best, and is the perfect base from which to explore the Yorkshire Dales. Shop ¼ mile, pub 30 yards, restaurant 100 yards.
