Description

Situated in the heart of the historic market town of Richmond, this delightful cottage stands beside the church in the fashionable cobbled avenue of Newbiggin and is believed to be one of the oldest cottages in the town dating back to the 16th century. The cottage is cosy and welcoming with living flame gas stove in the lounge and enjoys the privacy of an enclosed courtyard to the rear. It is ideally situated for exploring the area with a host of nearby attractions including Richmond Castle, theatre, a good selection of shops, pubs, restaurants and picturesque riverside walks. A parking permit is supplied for the duration of your holiday for parking close to the cottage and for use in the majority of car parks within the Yorkshire Dales.

Richmond is often referred to as Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales National Park and includes a variety of architecture surrounding what is believed to be the largest cobbled market square in England. The area is popular with walkers and those enjoying sport can choose between golf courses at Richmond or neighbouring Catterick and for those who enjoy a flutter, racecourses at Catterick and Thirsk are both easily accessible

Richmond Castle

Richmond Castle, on a cliff above the River Swale near the town of Richmond is believed to be one of the oldest stone-built castles surviving today. The most impressive and best preserved area of the castle is the Great Keep, which stands over 100 feet tall.

Completed in 1399, Bolton Castle has a rich past including connections with Richard III and Mary Queen of Scots who was imprisoned here in 1568 under orders from Elizabeth I. Open all year round.
