In a delightful village location in the grounds of the owner’s house this comfortable cottage provides an ideal setting for lovers of the countryside. There are walks starting directly from the doorstep, making this an excellent base for walking through pretty meadows and cycling along leafy lanes. This is a fantastic area for cyclists and the Tour de Yorkshire and Tour de Britain have made regular appearances.
Renovated from a former groom’s residence the cottage is comfortable and has the benefit of a sunny patio and use of the owner’s extensive mature garden with shady trees and lawns. The beautiful countryside of Swaledale and Wensleydale are waiting to be explored from this convenient location. About the local area

The owner provides access to four acres of private fields plus around Melsonby village there are many bridle paths so it is perfect for exercising, a short walk takes you to the village pub and there are many delightful villages nearby with pubs serving good food should you feel like eating out.
The cottage is cosy and comfortable with a modern kitchen and tasteful living room. The bedroom upstairs is spacious and welcoming, and a small sitting out area to the front of the cottage provides a sunny spot to enjoy when the weather allows.
The market town of Richmond is just five miles away with many attractions including the ancient castle, theatre, swimming pool and a cinema, not to mention an indoor and outdoor market. Beyond Richmond the Yorkshire Dales National Park beckons, and an abundance of beautiful footpath walks are waiting to be discovered in Swaledale and Wensleydale. The area is also great for cyclists with quite meandering roads and mountain bike trails.
A perfect base for yourselves for a tranquil Yorkshire holiday.

Richmond Castle

Richmond Castle, on a cliff above the River Swale near the town of Richmond is believed to be one of the oldest stone-built castles surviving today. The most impressive and best preserved area of the castle is the Great Keep, which stands over 100 feet tall.

Bolton Castle

Completed in 1399, Bolton Castle has a rich past including connections with Richard III and Mary Queen of Scots who was imprisoned here in 1568 under orders from Elizabeth I. Open all year round.
